Introduction and Platform

Giday mates, I’m an Aussie gamer, a dad, and a ex-AJ. I am keen to give this a red hot crack.

Giday everyone,
I’m back again to bang my hat into the ring. Much like last time I won’t really advertise this much but you should totally vote for me.

Like really… VOTE FOR REECE!!!

No really, vote for me mate

Why do you play/run RPGs?

I play/run RPGs for a bit of fun with mates and for a bit of escapism. You try and tell me that you wouldn’t love to be a thief lurking in the shadows or a mage wielding powerful spells, or maybe a burnt spy trying to get by in a crazy world, or a vampire just trying to figure out where your next meal will come from?

The ENnies requires a major commitment of time and energy. What resources do you have that will help you discharge these responsibilities? Will your gaming group or other individuals be assisting you? Does your family support you?

I’m work nights and sometimes during the day, my work life balance provides me with heaps of times to do the work of an ennies judge. My gaming group will be used to play the games with me and test out stuff. My wife is a gamer and my daughter loves playing games with me and the misses.

Judging requires a great deal of critical thinking skills, communication with other judges, deadline management, organization, and storage space for the product received. What interests, experience, and skills do you bring that will make you a more effective judge?

I said something last year about how I have some sweet skills I can’t remember what that was but I would use those again. I have a bit of experience dealing with people and a very eclectic taste.

What styles and genres of RPGs do you enjoy most? Are there any styles or genres that you do not enjoy? Which games best exemplify what you like? Do you consider yourself a particular system’s, publisher’s, or genre’s “fanboy/fangirl”?

I enjoy playing lots of games and don’t really have a favourite genre. I wouldn’t really say I’m a fan boy of any particular company, I like a bit of everything

What games have you played in the past year? List up to 10 RPGs you have played the most. Which ones, if any, have you loved or hated?

10 games I have played* in the last year, in no particular order

D&D 5e
Nights black agents
7th sea
Call of cthulhu
Blades in the dark
LotFP
DCC
Vampire the masquerade
The dresden files
Numeneria

Briefly summarize the criteria you will use for judging products in the different categories.

The shelf: how it looks on the book shelf

Layout: is it easy to read can I use it at the table easily

Art: does this show what book is about

Writing: is it easy enough to read and can I use it at the table

That special something: does the book do something that makes me want to keep coming back to it or make me really want to read it

How will you judge supplements or adventures for game systems whose core rules you are unfamiliar with or you believe are badly designed?

I would give it a good chance, speak to people about it, look at things online about it, just try and give it the same amount of care I would give something I like

How would you like to see the ENnies change? What should remain inviolate?

I like the way it’s all going at the moment and the recent changes that have been introduced seem like good ideas

BONUS: (optional) If you were an RPG, what would it be and would you play it?

I would be that hacked up home game that you have housed ruled to the point of being it’s own thing. I would play me
