2011 Judges

Mark Green

Mark W. Green (Skeld; Skeld the Superstitious)

I am a 35-year-old aerospace engineer, husband, father, and gamer. I grew up in Western Kentucky and received my degree in Engineering Physics from Murray State University. I moved to Huntsville, AL in 1997 to work in the defense industry. I’ve also lived in Syracuse, NY, Los Alamos, NM, and Tucson, AZ. Everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve taken my love of games – all types of games – with me. My current gaming group has been together for 10 years and includes a number of friends from college.

Tracey Michienzi (Princesskeyblade)

Hi! I am Tracey and I am 28 years old and a paralegal. I am rather new to the hobby (going on 5 years now), but the amount of time I have played doesn’t reflect the excitement I have for this hobby. I love gaming. I met my husband through gaming. I met a lot of my friends through gaming.

Every year I see the list of nominees and I see games I have never heard of or seen before. I love discovering new and different games, and have made it a goal to run every new game I purchase as well as try new systems at every convention and gameday I attend. In fact, I made a resolution this year to try and run a “new to me” game at every convention/gameday I attend.

James Surano (scholar; azrael)

Hi, my name’s James and I’m an gamer

I’ve been volunteering for the Ennies for two years now, and been following them since they were hosted in the ENWorld Chat room in 2001. Because I believe in the Ennies, I have decided to take my volunteering to the next level and run for Judge. I’m doing this because like everyone else, I’ve debated the nominations of the Ennies, and I have decided it’s time to stop being a tuesday morning quarterback second guessing the judges, and step onto the firing line myself. I also wish to be able to help people find that new amazing game that they will love for years to come, but never would have heard about it, if not for the Ennies, or the Judges. It’s this rewarding of innovation and quality that has helped push our hobby forward, and I want to be a larger part of that.

CW Richeson

Christopher W. Richeson (C.W.Richeson)

I’m an attorney and hobbyist RPG reviewer from Tennessee, and since I seem to consistently be playing the games that are nominated for awards anyway I might as well help with the process. I enjoy playing a broad variety of RPGs, and my gaming groups have always been good about trying new things whenever the opportunity presents itself

Wil Upchurch (d20Dwarf; Wil_Upchurch)

My name is Wil Upchurch, and I am a gamer. In the year 2000 (imagine Conan and Andy singing), the release of 3rd Edition D&D reinvigorated my passion for gaming, though I had never stopped playing. By the end of 2001, I had delivered my first freelance manuscripts and taken a job at Fantasy Flight Games to develop the Legends & Lairs line and art direct Dragonstar, Blue Planet, and other roleplaying projects. This led to a freelance career, as well as a position at Steve Jackson Games (well, a few positions, actually). Though I haven’t been around much lately, I’ve been around since almost the beginning of this website and its predecessor, as an enthusiast, professional, company rep, and author of a portion of War of the Burning Sky.
