What it takes to be an ENnies Judge

Since I’ve received a lot of questions regarding the responsibilities of an ENnies Judge, I thought I’d put up this post to clarify a few things.

Here is the verbiage at the top of the nomination application:

Disclaimer: All applicants…

  • must be at least 18 years of age as of August 16th, 2013 and able to enter into a legal contract.

  • not have any professional relationship with any RPG publisher during the period from January 1st, 2012 to August 1st, 2014; if you have questions about your eligibility based upon your work for a publisher, contact tony@ennie-awards.com.

  • must declare any relationship with any publisher in which they receive money, product, or special consideration in exchange for their services.

  • must be able to read English and communicate clearly therein.

  • while campaigning and if voted in as judge, must in no way, shape, or form promise favors to fans or publishers in exchange for votes.

Responsibilities include:

  • being able to receive product in a timely manner
  • communicating with the other judges via a Google Group
  • being able to meet deadlines
  • judging products fairly and openly
  • communicating with the ENnies staff when needed

How much will it cost? Nothing. We create shipping labels that people can slap on their packages and each one states:

PROMOTIONAL COPIES FOR EVALUATION PURPOSES ONLY.  NOT FOR RESALE. CUSTOMS VALUE $0.

If you live outside of the US, you should not need to pay any customs fees at all. If you are forced to, which we’ve only had happen twice, the ENnies will pay for it.

If you have anymore questions, ask away!
